Every morning between 9:30 and 10am it is tea time at the office. Black tea with ginger and nescafe are served (well, self-served). It is breakfast for most as chipatis or samosas are also available (Ugandans have adopted these Indian fried foods as a common part of their own diet). People filter through, sometimes as many as 10 are at the table at once, other times its just one or two at a time. Conversation is mostly in Acholi, with some English phrases thrown around so I generally catch the gist of what is being discussed. If it is a particularly heated or animated discussion I ask Lucy afterward what was going on... |
